1. 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge – The Best Overall Hotel in New York City with a Pool

If you’re looking for the best hotel in New York City with a pool, this would be my number one recommendation. It’ located in DUMBO, Brooklyn and 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge is probably one of the most recognisable luxury hotels in New York, and once you see the rooftop pool it’s easy to understand why. It sits right beside Brooklyn Bridge Park and the hotel overlooks the Manhattan skyline, the Brooklyn Bridge and the East River, making it one of the most incredible places to stay in the city.
The rooftop pool is undoubtedly the highlight. During the summer months, it’s one of the most sought-after hotel pools in New York City thanks to its panoramic skyline views. Whether you’re swimming, relaxing on a sun lounger or simply taking in the view, it really does feels like one of those classic New York moments you’ll remember long after your trip.
Inside, the hotel has a completely different feel to many of the luxury hotels you’ll find in Manhattan. Instead of marble floors and chandeliers, 1 Hotel focuses on natural materials, huge windows and greenery throughout the property. It feels calm, modern and much more like a wellness retreat than a busy city hotel.
The location is another huge reason I’d recommend staying here. DUMBO is one of my favourite neighbourhoods in New York and you’re within walking distance of Brooklyn Bridge Park, Jane’s Carousel, Pebble Beach and some of the city’s best photo spots. You can also walk across the Brooklyn Bridge into Manhattan or hop on the subway to reach Midtown in around 20 minutes.
2. The William Vale – One of the Best Rooftop Hotels in New York City with a Pool

If staying in Williamsburg is on your New York bucket list, The William Vale should definitely be on your shortlist. Home to one of the most famous rooftop pools in New York City, this hotel has become incredibly popular over the last few years thanks to its incredible views and location in one of Brooklyn’s coolest neighbourhoods.
The rooftop pool is one of the biggest you’ll find in New York. It stretches 60 feet across the terrace and is surrounded by daybeds, loungers and uninterrupted views of the Manhattan skyline. It’s hard to believe you’re still in the middle of New York because it almost feels like a rooftop resort rather than a city hotel.
One of the things I love most about The William Vale is that every room comes with its own private balcony, which is actually quite rare in New York City. Waking up with views across the skyline before heading downstairs to the rooftop pool is pretty hard to beat.
The hotel itself has a really modern feel, with spacious rooms, floor-to-ceiling windows and some fantastic restaurants and bars. Even if you aren’t spending time by the pool, it’s one of those hotels where you actually look forward to coming back after a day of sightseeing.
The location is another reason I’d recommend it. Williamsburg has some of my favourite coffee shops, restaurants, vintage stores and rooftop bars in New York. It feels much more relaxed than Midtown whilst still only being a short subway ride into Manhattan. If you’re someone who likes discovering neighbourhoods beyond the typical tourist attractions, this is a brilliant base.
3. The Dominick Hotel – The Best Luxury Hotel in Manhattan with a Pool

If you’d rather stay in Manhattan but still want one of the best hotels in New York City with a pool, The Dominick is one of the easiest recommendations I can make. It located in SoHo and this five star hotel feels luxurious from the moment you walk through the doors. The rooms are much bigger than what you’d normally expect in New York and many of them have floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the skyline and Hudson River.
One of the biggest reasons people book The Dominick is its outdoor pool terrace. Unlike many hotel pools in New York, this one actually feels like somewhere you’d want to spend an entire afternoon. There are comfortable loungers, food and drink service and incredible views over Lower Manhattan. It’s the perfect place to escape the heat after a morning of sightseeing.
I also love the location and SoHo is one of my favourite neighbourhoods to stay in because everything is within walking distance. You’re surrounded by great restaurants, cafés, designer shops and some of the best shopping in New York, whilst places like Greenwich Village, Tribeca and Little Italy are all just a short walk away.
If you’re planning a luxury city break and want to stay somewhere that genuinely feels like a five-star experience, The Dominick is definitely worth considering. It isn’t the cheapest hotel on this list, but I do think it’s one of the best luxury hotels in New York City with a pool.
4. Arlo Williamsburg – One of the Best Boutique Hotels in New York City with a Pool

If you’re looking for somewhere that has more of a boutique feel, Arlo Williamsburg is a great option. It’s located on the Williamsburg waterfront and hotel combines stylish interiors, fantastic restaurants and one of the best rooftop pools in Brooklyn. It has a much more relaxed atmosphere than some of the larger luxury hotels on this list, making it ideal if you prefer boutique properties over big chain hotels.
The rooftop pool is definitely the standout feature. The 40-foot seasonal rooftop pool overlooks the Manhattan skyline and is open daily throughout the summer (weather permitting), making it one of the best places to escape the heat after a morning of exploring New York. There are plenty of loungers around the pool, plus a rooftop bar where you can order drinks while taking in the skyline views.
The location is another reason I’d recommend staying here. Williamsburg has become one of the coolest neighbourhoods in New York and is packed with independent coffee shops, vintage stores, rooftop bars and some of the best restaurants in the city. It feels completely different to Midtown and gives you a chance to experience another side of New York.
The hotel itself has a really modern design with comfortable rooms, lots of natural light and a much more relaxed vibe than many luxury hotels in Manhattan. It’s also only one subway stop from Lower Manhattan, so getting into the city couldn’t be easier.
If you’re searching for the best hotels in New York City with pools but don’t necessarily want to stay in Manhattan, Arlo Williamsburg is definitely one to look at.
5. ModernHaus SoHo – One of the Best Hotels in SoHo with a Rooftop Pool

If staying in SoHo is at the top of your New York wishlist, ModernHaus SoHo is easily one of the best hotels you can book. This luxury boutique hotel is located right in the heart of one of Manhattan’s most popular neighbourhoods, meaning you’re surrounded by designer shopping, independent cafés and some of the best restaurants in the city.
One of the biggest reasons ModernHaus makes this list of the best hotels in New York City with pools is its rooftop pool. It sits high above SoHo and the heated outdoor pool has incredible views across Lower Manhattan and the Hudson River, making it one of the most scenic hotel pools in the city.
The rooftop terrace feels much quieter than some of the other hotels on this list, which I actually really like. It feels like somewhere you can relax after a busy day sightseeing rather than somewhere that’s packed with people taking photos.
The rooms are equally impressive as they’re modern, spacious by New York standards and many have floor-to-ceiling windows with skyline views. If you’re celebrating a birthday or simply want to treat yourself, this is definitely one of the nicer hotels in SoHo.
For me the biggest selling point is the location. You’re within walking distance of SoHo, Tribeca, Greenwich Village, Little Italy and Chinatown, meaning you can tick off so many of New York’s best neighbourhoods without constantly jumping on the subway.
6. Hotel Indigo Lower East Side – One of the Best Value Hotels in New York City with a Pool

Finding an affordable hotel in New York with a pool isn’t always easy, which is exactly why Hotel Indigo Lower East Side deserves a place on this list.
Compared to many of the luxury hotels featured above, this hotel offers a much better balance between price and facilities. You still get a rooftop pool, fantastic city views and a great location, but without quite the same luxury price tag.
The rooftop pool is surprisingly large for New York standards and overlooks the Lower East Side skyline. During summer it’s a really nice place to cool off after exploring the city, and because it’s reserved for hotel guests, it feels much less hectic than many of the rooftop pools attached to public bars.
I also think the location is hugely underrated, as in the Lower East Side you’ll find amazing food, rooftop bars, independent coffee shops and some brilliant nightlife, all within walking distance of the hotel.
It’s also really well connected if you’re planning to explore other parts of New York. You can easily get to SoHo, Chinatown, Brooklyn and Midtown using the nearby subway stations.
If you’re searching for the best hotels in New York City with pools but don’t necessarily want to spend £800+ a night, Hotel Indigo is one of the best options available.
7. Virgin Hotels New York City – One of the Best Hotels in New York City with a Pool for a Girls Trip

If you’re looking for a hotel that feels modern, luxurious and has one of the best rooftop pools in Manhattan, Virgin Hotels New York City should definitely be on your shortlist. It’s located in NoMad and this hotel has quickly become one of the city’s most popular luxury stays thanks to its stylish rooms, fantastic rooftop spaces and central location. It’s also one of those hotels that feels like a destination in itself rather than just somewhere to sleep.
The rooftop pool is one of the biggest reasons it features on this list of the best hotels in New York City with pools. Sitting high above the city, it’s surrounded by comfortable loungers and incredible skyline views, making it the perfect place to spend a few hours if you’re visiting during the warmer months. It feels much more like a rooftop beach club than your typical hotel pool.
The rooms are also equally impressive. They’re modern, spacious and designed with lots of thoughtful touches that make your stay feel a little more luxurious. If you’re someone who appreciates good design, you’ll definitely like Virgin Hotels.
Location-wise, it’s hard to beat. You’re within walking distance of the Flatiron Building, Madison Square Park, Chelsea and the Empire State Building, whilst Midtown is only a short subway ride away.
If you’re planning a summer trip to New York and want somewhere that balances luxury with a fun atmosphere, Virgin Hotels is one of my favourite options.
8. Dream Downtown – One of the Best Hotel Pools in New York City for Summer

Dream Downtown is probably one of the closest things you’ll find to a resort hotel in New York City. It’s located in Chelsea and this hotel is centred around its incredible outdoor pool, which has become one of the most well-known hotel pools in Manhattan. During summer, the entire space comes alive with loungers, cabanas, music and food service, making it feel completely different from the rest of the city.
If you’re specifically searching for the best hotels in New York City with pools, this one deserves a place on your list purely because of the pool itself. It’s 50-foot and features a glass-bottom pool, surrounded by a 5,000-square-foot deck area known as “The Beach,” which includes real sand!
The hotel also has a fantastic location. You’re only a short walk from Chelsea Market, the High Line, Hudson River Park and the Meatpacking District, so there’s plenty to explore before heading back to the pool for the afternoon.
The rooms are modern and comfortable, although I’d say the real selling point here is definitely the outdoor pool and social atmosphere rather than the rooms themselves. If you’re visiting New York during summer and want somewhere that feels a little more like a holiday, Dream Downtown is a brilliant choice.
9. Margaritaville Resort Times Square – One of the Best Hotels in Times Square with a Pool

If you want to stay right in the middle of the action, Margaritaville Resort Times Square is one of the very few hotels in the area with its own rooftop pool.
For first-time visitors, I actually think this is one of the best options. You’re within walking distance of Times Square, Bryant Park, Broadway, the Empire State Building and countless subway stations, making it incredibly easy to explore the rest of the city.
The rooftop pool is one of the hotel’s biggest selling points. Whilst it’s smaller than some of the others on this list, it offers fantastic views across Midtown Manhattan and gives you somewhere to cool off after a busy day of sightseeing. There’s also a rooftop bar where you can grab a cocktail whilst taking in the skyline.
The hotel itself has a fun, tropical feel which makes it stand out from many of the more traditional luxury hotels in New York. It doesn’t take itself too seriously, which is part of its appeal.
If your priority is staying close to New York’s biggest attractions whilst still having access to a pool, Margaritaville is one of the best hotels to book.
10. Equinox Hotel New York – The Most Luxurious Hotel in New York City with a Pool

If money was no object and I had to recommend just one luxury wellness hotel in New York, it would be Equinox. It’s located in Hudson Yards and this five-star hotel completely redefines what a luxury city hotel should feel like. Everything here is designed around wellness, from the rooms and spa to the fitness facilities and rooftop pools.
Unlike most hotels in New York, Equinox gives you access to both indoor and outdoor pools, meaning you can enjoy them year-round. The outdoor pool overlooks Hudson Yards and the Hudson River, whilst the indoor facilities feel more like a luxury spa than a hotel.
Even if you don’t plan on working out during your holiday, the fitness and wellness facilities are genuinely impressive. Guests also have access to one of the most exclusive gyms in New York, along with a world-class spa and recovery treatments.
The rooms are beautiful too. They’re spacious, incredibly quiet and designed to help you get the best night’s sleep possible, which is surprisingly rare in New York.
Hudson Yards itself has become one of my favourite areas to stay. You’re right next to The Edge, Little Island, the High Line and some fantastic restaurants, whilst Midtown is only a few minutes away by subway.
If you’re searching for the best hotels in New York City with pools and want the ultimate luxury experience, Equinox is about as good as it gets.
FAQs About the Best Hotels in New York City with Pools
Which hotel has the best pool in New York City?
If I had to choose just one, I’d say 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge. The rooftop pool overlooking the Manhattan skyline is genuinely one of the most iconic hotel pools in New York. Between the location in DUMBO, the luxury rooms and the incredible views, it’s hard to beat if you’re visiting during the summer. If you’d rather stay in Manhattan, I’d recommend The Dominick or Equinox Hotel.
Can you use hotel pools in New York City if you’re not staying there?
Some hotels allow non-guests to use their pools through ResortPass, although availability depends on the hotel and the season. For example, Arlo Williamsburg offers day passes and cabana bookings, making it a great option if you want to enjoy the rooftop pool without booking a room. I’d always recommend checking directly with the hotel before your trip, as availability can change.
What is the best hotel in New York City with a rooftop pool?
There are several fantastic options, but my favourites are:
- 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge for the skyline views
- The William Vale for the large rooftop pool in Williamsburg
- ModernHaus SoHo for a quieter luxury experience
Which New York hotels have pools open all year?
Most outdoor pools in New York are seasonal, but Equinox Hotel New York is one of the few hotels that offers both indoor and outdoor pool facilities, making it one of the best options if you’re visiting during winter.
Is it worth paying extra for a hotel with a pool in New York City?
I honestly think it depends on when you’re visiting. If you’re travelling between May and September, I think it’s absolutely worth it. After walking 20,000+ steps around the city, having somewhere to relax for a few hours before heading out again makes a huge difference.
If you’re visiting during winter, I’d prioritise location over a pool unless you’re staying somewhere like Equinox, where the indoor wellness facilities are a big part of the experience. If you’re planning your trip, don’t forget to check out my other New York guides that I’ve linked below.
