Quick verdict
The room I booked (and why)
What I paid (and whether it’s worth it)
Location (honestly it’s one of the best bases in Rhodes)
You will hear people say Kolymbia is in the middle of nowhere, but I genuinely think it is one of the best locations in Rhodes because it sits in the middle of everything you will actually want to do.
From here, it was about:
- 30 minutes to Rhodes Old Town
- 30 minutes to Lindos
- 15 to 20 minutes to Faliraki if you want an evening out for dinner
That middle ground location meant we could explore properly without spending the whole trip driving.
Should you hire a car?
The beach and what’s nearby
One thing I loved is how easy it is to mix pool days and beach days here. Kolymbia Beach is only about a 3 to 4 minute walk away, so you can do a lazy morning by the pool and still be on the beach shortly after. The sand at Kolymbia Beach is also super soft, which is worth knowing if you are picky about beaches.
There is also a small convenience shop right outside the hotel which sounds minor but was genuinely so handy for grabbing water, snacks and little essentials (I left my hair brush at home and luckily the shop had one that I could buy).
Facilities (the pools, the view and why it went viral)
Food and drink (breakfast + on-site restaurants)
Breakfast was one of my favourite parts of the stay and I am glad we did bed and breakfast because it made mornings effortless. There was loads of choice and it was the kind of breakfast where you can actually eat well without feeling like you are having the same thing every day. The omelette station was great, there was lots of fresh fruit and the coffee was actually really good!
In terms of food options on site, you don’t have to leave the hotel if you don’t want to. There is the main dining area where breakfast is served and they usually do Greek cuisine in the evenings. There is also an Asian street food style restaurant that does things like noodles, bao buns and sushi. We ate there on the first night and it was genuinely delicious, I had the pad Thai and I would definitely recommend it.
There is also an Italian option where you can get pizza, pasta and ice cream, plus the poolside bar for drinks throughout the day.
If you want to keep everything super easy you can also choose a board option like half board, but bed and breakfast worked perfectly for us because we still wanted freedom to explore.
What I loved about Cooks Club Kolmybia
The mountain view was the big one. It made the whole hotel feel special from the minute we arrived and the pools with that mountain backdrop were genuinely stunning.I also loved that it felt like you were in Palm Springs rather than Rhodes. The design, the vibe, the whole atmosphere felt very curated.
Breakfast was another highlight because it removed the daily “where are we eating” debate and let us start the day properly. Finally the location was perfect for seeing more of Rhodes because it sits between Old Town and Lindos and having car hire available through the hotel made everything easy.
