The Arca Hong Kong Review – Sea Signature King Room

I stayed at The Arca Hong Kong for a full week and booked the Sea Signature King Room because I wanted that proper harbour view feeling without paying Central prices. I based myself in Wong Chuk Hang on the south side of Hong Kong Island and honestly, it ended up being one of those stays that surprised me in the best way. This post will talk through my honest review of The Arca including what the room was like, whether the location is actually convenient, what the transport links are like, and the parts of the hotel that genuinely made it feel like good value. If you’re trying to decide whether The Arca is a smart pick for Hong Kong (especially if you care about views but don’t want to blow your budget) this should make the decision a lot easier.

Quick verdict

Would I stay again? Yes, 100%. The Arca Hong Kong is best for anyone who wants a quieter base, easy transport and a hotel that feels great value for money with proper views. It’s not for people who want to step outside and be in the middle of Central nightlife instantly. If you want somewhere calm to come back to after busy sightseeing days, while still being able to get around Hong Kong easily, The Arca is a really smart choice.

The room I booked - Sea Signature King Room

The Arca Room View

I booked the Sea Signature King Room for one reason. I wanted to wake up to a view that felt like Hong Kong and I wanted it to feel special without the price tag that usually comes with it.

The first thing I noticed was the size as Hong Kong hotel rooms can be tiny, so I was genuinely surprised by how spacious this one felt. It didn’t feel like I had to live out of a suitcase which I loved, as I was there for seven nights and the room still felt comfortable and easy to be in.

Here is what stood out:

  • The space and layout – the room felt bigger than I expected with enough space to move around properly. It is the kind of room that works for longer stays, not just a quick weekend.
  • Storage that actually makes sense – there was loads of cupboard space, plus proper hanging space. The wardrobe setup was great and I could actually unpack and feel organised rather than living in chaos.
  • Little touches I loved – the bathrobes, the free toiletries (toothbrush + toothpaste) and even the face towels were branded with the hotel name which just made it feel a bit more luxe and considered.
  • A really spacious bathroom – yhe bathroom was genuinely roomy. It didn’t feel cramped and that is not always a guarantee in Hong Kong.
  • The window ledge – this was without a doubt my favourite detail. There’s a ledge by the window that is basically made for a slow morning coffee while you sit and stare at the harbour.
  • The view – this is the whole point of booking this room. The harbour view gave the stay that extra feeling, especially in the mornings and at night when the city lights kick in.

What I paid (and whether it’s worth it)

Let’s talk numbers because that is what most people want to know in a The Arca Hong Kong review. I stayed for 7 nights and paid £606 total, which worked out to £77 per night.

For Hong Kong that felt genuinely affordable, especially considering the room size, the storage and the fact I had the sea view. I stayed in September and the weather was still really hot, so it was a great time to visit and be out exploring all day.

If you are trying to keep your hotel spend reasonable so you can spend more on food, experiences, and getting around, this hotel is defintely strong value.

Location review of where The Arca is

The Arca is in Wong Chuk Hang which sits on the south side of Hong Kong Island. It is a quieter area compared to places like Central which is something I personally loved about the area. After a full day in busy tourist spots, coming back to somewhere calmer felt so nice. It felt like I had a proper base rather than constantly being in crowds.

The best part is that it is still super convenient:

  • The MTR is close by – the metro is right there so getting around Hong Kong is easy. Even though you are not staying in the centre you can still get to the main areas quickly.
  • You are close to Ocean Park – if Ocean Park is on your list, this is a great location for it as it’s only one stop away on the MTR.
  • THE SOUTHSIDE mall is right there – yhis was a big part of why the location worked so well for me. THE SOUTHSIDE has loads of brunch and food spots, plus shops so I would go there for breakfast most mornings. It made mornings really easy because I did not have to plan too much. I could just walk over, grab food, then head out for the day.

Facilities - rooftop pool, pet friendly and a 24 hour fitness studio

The Arca Rooftop
The Arca Lobby

One of my favourite parts of the hotel was the rooftop pool. The views up there are gorgeous and what I loved is that even if you do not book the Sea Signature room, you can still get a similar harbour view from the rooftop. It is such a good spot in the day and it is also really pretty at night when the city lights are on.

It’s also worth knowing the hotel has a restaurant on the third floor where the lobby is. The vibe is casual but modern, there’s a outdoor terrace and the menu mixes Asian and Western flavours.

In terms of other facilities the hotel is also pet friendly, which is a big plus if you’re travelling with a pet, and there’s also a 24 hour fitness studio, which is handy if you like sticking to your routine or you just want the option to work out whenever you feel like it.

What I loved about The Arca

Here’s the honest list of what made this stay a yes for me. Firstly the Sea Signature King Room view was genuinely worth booking because you get that proper harbour view without paying Central prices, and it instantly made the room feel more special. The room size also surprised me in the best way because it felt bigger than I expected for Hong Kong, so I never felt cramped even after a full week. Storage was another win as there were loads of cupboards and proper hanging space, which meant I could actually unpack and not live out of my suitcase on the floor.

One of my favourite little details was the window ledge, because it became my go-to spot for a morning coffee and a slow five minutes of staring at the view before starting the day. Location-wise, I really liked that Wong Chuk Hang felt calmer and quieter than the busier tourist areas, but it didn’t feel inconvenient because the MTR was so close. Having THE SOUTHSIDE nearby was also a lifesaver because it meant I always had quick breakfast and food options on hand without overthinking it. And finally we need a moment for the the rooftop pool. Even if you don’t book a harbour view room you still get those stunning views up there, and it looked unreal both in the daytime and at night.

What to know before you book

The biggest thing to know is that you are NOT staying in the middle of Central. If you want to be in the busiest areas 24/7, you might prefer somewhere more central. But if you are happy to hop on the MTR and you want a quieter base, that is exactly why this works. For me the trade off was worth it because I got the view and the space for a price that felt genuinely reasonable.
