1. Victoria Peak
You can’t visit Hong Hong and not visit Victoria Peak. Victoria Peak offers stunning panoramic views of the city skyline, the harbour, and the surrounding islands. The Peak Tower features observation decks, restaurants, and shops that make it a perfect spot to spend a few hours.
Cost: Access to the Peak is free.
2. Peak Tram
Now, there are a few ways to get to Victoria Peak, but I went for the Peak Tram, and it was honestly one of the highlights of my trip. This steep, historic funicular ride had me glued to the window as Hong Kong’s skyscrapers seemingly tilted in surreal angles on the way up. Tip: sit on the right hand side on the way up so you get to see the skyline view on the ride up. The Peak Tram is runs daily from 7:30am – 11pm.
Cost: A round-trip ticket costs £17 with access to Sky Terrace 428.
3. Ngong Ping 360
Ngong Ping 360 is a cable car ride that takes you across the hills to the Ngong Ping Village on Lantau Island. The ride offers breathtaking views of the South China Sea, mountains, and the surrounding countryside. Tip: if you’re feeling brave, opt for the crystal cabin, which has a glass floor for that extra thrill.
Cost: A round trip cable car ticket costs around £21 for a standard cabin.
4. Tian Tan Buddha (Big Buddha)
Once you get off the cable car, it’s hard to miss the Tian Tan Buddha, or Big Buddha. Standing at 34 meters tall, this Buddha is a striking sight that manages to feel peaceful despite its size. I spent some time at the base before tackling the 268 steps to the top for a closer look. There is AC at the top, so if you are sweating climbing up, don’t worry you will be able cool down once you’re there.
Cost: Entry is free.
5. Hong Kong Disneyland
No matter how old you are, you still feel like a kid when visiting Disneyland. Hong Kong Disneyland is a magical destination for families and fans of Disney. The park is home to themed areas such as Adventureland, Fantasyland, and Tomorrowland, with exciting rides and shows. My favourite ride was Hyperspace Mountain, which is a high speed, roller-coaster type ride in the dark which has a Star Wars theme to it.
Cost: Ticket prices start from £49.
6. Victoria Harbour
Victoria Harbour is the heart of Hong Kong, and there are countless ways to enjoy it. One of the best nearby attractions is the K11 Musea shopping centre, which offers a blend of art, culture, and high-end retail experiences. Its rooftop garden provides stunning views of the harbour, making it a great spot to relax after a day of shopping.
Cost: Visiting K11 Musea is free, though shopping and dining will vary in cost.
7. Avenue of the Stars
For something a little more laid-back, take a stroll along the Avenue of the Stars. It’s Hong Kong’s version of Hollywood’s Walk of Fame and pays homage to icons like Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan. And honestly, the waterfront views of Victoria Harbour are simply breathtaking!
Cost: Free to visit.
8. Day Trip to Macau
Just a short ferry ride from Hong Kong, Macau is famous for its blend of Portuguese and Chinese heritage, historic sites, and world-class casinos. A day trip to Macau allows you to explore places like the Ruins of St. Paul’s and Senado Square. Macau is also the only place in China where gambling is legal, so if you’re feeling lucky why not take a trip to the casinos within the hotels. I would recommend spending 2 days in Macau to fully explore the hotels and the unique mix of historical sites.
Cost: A single ferry ticket from Hong Kong to Macau starts from £17 depending on the operator and class of service.
9. Mong Kok and Ladies Market
If you love the buzz of street markets, Mong Kok is the place to be. The Ladies Market is bustling with everything from clothes to souvenirs, and yes, you’ll find some bargains if you’re ready to haggle.
Cost: Free to visit, though the cost depends on your shopping habits!
10. Sunset Cruise on the Harbour
A sunset cruise is a fantastic way to enjoy the beauty of Victoria Harbour at dusk. Many cruises include refreshments or even dinner, allowing you to relax while taking in the stunning views of Hong Kong’s skyline.
Cost: Prices start from £15 for a one hour cruise.
